The important work that Transforming Faces accomplished in partnership with the European Cleft Organisation (ECO) will have a positive and lasting impact on families affected by cleft lip and palate well into the future. For the past few years, we have funded programs that educated health professionals, created awareness of cleft care options and provided support to families so that babies and children with clefts have a dramatically improved chance of living full, healthy lives. With our successful seed fund strategy and support to fund a model for parent support and training of first-line health workers, ECO was able to tap into funding from within Europe. We are proud of this work and pleased to report that, though our funding arrangement with ECO ended Dec 31, 2011, these vital programs will continue to support families and medical professionals, and transform lives in Bulgaria and Romania.
